2006 CSP Argentina

From WikiPaintball

The 2006 CSP Argentina was a speedball tournament held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as the fifth and penultimate round of the 2006 Circuito Sudamericano de Paintball season. Organised by 300 FPS, the event featured 16 teams representing Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.[1]

Fusion of Venezuela won the Open division, while the Brazilian team The Lady and the Tramps won the Amateur division.[1]

Background

[edit]

The Circuito Sudamericano de Paintball, commonly abbreviated as CSP, was a South American tournament series contested through rounds hosted in different participating countries.

The 2006 season began in Guayaquil, Ecuador, before visiting Santiago in Chile, São Paulo in Brazil, Lima in Peru, Buenos Aires in Argentina and Caracas in Venezuela.[2] The Buenos Aires tournament was the fifth round of the six-event season.[1][2]

The Argentine round was held at the field operated by 300 FPS. The organiser also opened a specialist paintball shop during the event week.[1] A contemporary field directory subsequently described the venue in Pilar, Buenos Aires Province, as Argentina's first Sup'Air field and identified 300 FPS as an organiser of the CSP.[3]

Tournament

[edit]

Competition was divided into Open and Amateur categories. Teams from the two divisions played together during the preliminary stage before being separated for the divisional playoffs.[1]

The participating teams were initially divided into two preliminary groups.

At the Caracas event, Fusion finished fourth, while Venezuela's Lluvia Negra won the tournament. Moonwalkers, the leading Argentine team at the Buenos Aires round, placed sixth in the Caracas Division I competition.[2]
