2005 Australian X-Ball League Round 4
2005 Australian X-Ball League Round 4 was a paintball tournament held at Paintball Pete's field at Mount White, New South Wales, Australia, in October 2005. It was the final round of the year's Australian X-Ball League season. Sydney X-Fighters defeated Wellington Hybrid 11–7 in the franchise final and secured the season championship. Mount White Boys won the Open X division.[1][2][4]
Event
[edit]Wellington Hybrid announced its intention to attend on 5 September 2005. The team's website displayed a countdown to 8 October 2005 as the scheduled start.[1]
The venue was Sydney X-Fighters' home field. For the tournament, the playing area was extended to full size and a spectator area was cut into the hillside.[4]
An October photographic collection documents the event. It was shared on the NZ P8NT forum on 10 November 2005, where participants subsequently discussed photographs of their games.[2][3]
Franchise competition
[edit]Hybrid defeated Sydney X-Fighters 9–8, bringing the teams level in the championship contest and requiring a deciding play-off. X-Fighters subsequently beat CQ Carnivores 22–2, while Hybrid defeated Carnivores 8–3.[4]
X-Fighters and Hybrid met again in the final. The opening point lasted seven minutes, and X-Fighters eventually won the match 11–7 to secure the championship.[4]
