2003 NPPL New Jersey Open
The 2003 NPPL New Jersey Open was a seven-player paintball tournament held from 8 to 10 August 2003 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in New Jersey, United States. Organised by the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Pure Promotions, it was the fourth event of the inaugural NPPL Super 7 season.[1][2]
Venue and conditions
[edit]The tournament shared the Raceway Park venue with a drag racing competition. Fields opened for inspection on the Thursday before competition, and the event included a trade show and live music.[1]
Persistent rain produced muddy playing conditions. Organisers spread wood chips around the site and straw on the Angel and NPPL fields.[1]
Competition
[edit]Teams played eight preliminary games. Eight teams advanced in each of the Professional and Amateur divisions, while sixteen advanced in each of the Novice and Rookie divisions. Quarter-final groups reduced each division to four teams for the semi-finals and placing matches.[1]
Dynasty won all eight professional preliminary games. Avalanche and Bushwackers International failed to advance. In Amateur, series leader STP missed the quarter-final cut by four points.[1]
