2000 NPPL Nashville Open
The 2000 NPPL Nashville Open was the fourth tournament of the 2000 National Professional Paintball League season. Held at Nashville Paintball Sports in Lebanon, Tennessee, in August 2000, it was jointly produced by Bad Boyz Toyz and DYE Precision. Fifty-two teams competed exclusively in ten-man divisions.[1]
Avalanche won the professional division, Jacksonville Warriors won Amateur A and Team Strange won Amateur B.[2][3]
Venue and organisation
[edit]The event used three constructed fields at Robin Adcock's Nashville Paintball Sports: Hyperball, Ultimate Airball and an existing log-cabin layout. Woodland fields used for previous tournaments at the venue were set aside.[1]
Preliminary games began on Friday, with semi-finals and finals on Sunday. Thunderstorms and lightning delayed some Sunday games. Conditions improved during the afternoon, although the fields remained muddy.[1]
Safety rule change
[edit]During the tournament, the NPPL rules committee introduced a prohibition on throwing equipment, excluding paint pods, with a three-game suspension as the prescribed penalty. The committee implemented the rule immediately and instructed referees to notify teams before games.[1]
Equipment
[edit]Jacksonville Warriors competed using pre-production Airgun Designs E-Mag markers, with technical support from company president Tom Kaye. Pro-Team Products' contemporary report confirmed the team's Amateur A victory on 27 August.[4]
