1997 Great Western Series Portland was a paintball tournament held at Enchanted Acres in Scappoose, near Portland, Oregon, over the 1997 Labor Day weekend. Part of the Great Western Series, it included amateur and novice five-player and ten-player competitions. Planet Paintball hosted the event. [1]
The Saturday ten-player competition was delayed by a shortage of compressed air for refilling players' tanks. Organisers shortened games and limited players to 300 paintballs per game, allowing the programme to finish before darkness. Planet Paintball owner Dan Bonebrake refunded ten-player entry fees and offered to reimburse travelling teams' airfares; some teams declined the offer. [1]
The following final placings and final-round points are recorded by WARPIG. ClassicScores corroborates the placings in all four divisions. [2][3][4]
