The 2010 Fed Cup, also referred to as the Federation Cup, was a British paintball tournament held on 18–19 September 2010 at the Balls Out Promotions venue at Rodbaston College, near Penkridge, Staffordshire, home of the Central Premier Paintball Series. Birmingham Disruption won the M7 competition, Evil Addiction won M5 and London Tigers 2 won the M5 Fed Plate.[1][2]

Format and schedule

[edit]

The event brought together teams from the CPPS and National Southern Paintball League. The advertised main formats were M7 X Ball race-to-four and M5 race-to-two. Qualifying was scheduled for Saturday 18 September, followed by the finals on Sunday 19 September.[1]

Teams that did not qualify for the main finals could register for a separate five-man Fed Plate on Sunday, without a race-to format or an additional entry fee. CPPS and NSPL divisional season winners were offered free entry to the tournament.[1]

CPPS M7 championship play-off

[edit]

Following the final round of 2010 CPPS, Manchester Firm and Disruption were level on 558 M7 Super League points. On 6 September 2010, organiser Rich Harris announced that a play-off at the Fed Cup would determine the CPPS champions.[3]

A Manchester Firm statement published on 3 November subsequently described its X Ball team as second overall in the CPPS behind Birmingham Disruption. That statement did not give a play-off score. These season positions are separate from the Fed Cup M7 classification, in which Firm finished fourth.[2][4]

Video coverage

[edit]

Gambo47 published Fed Cup2010 video.mp4 on 20 September 2010, describing it as footage from the weekend at Rodbaston. Benhbrum published federation cup 2010 paintball on 23 September; its description identifies footage filmed on the Sunday and credits Ben Hyett and Phil Yeadon with camerawork and Hyett with editing.[5][6]
