The 2008 MXball season was a proposed Mexican paintball programme promoted by MXball, offering five-player competition, Xball Lite and Xball Arena.[1] Contemporary statements by MXball promotion staff identify one five-player X-Ball tournament held early in the year and state that the remaining planned events were abandoned.[2][3] No final season standings or season champions have been verified.

Announced programme

[edit]

A PBNation announcement posted by YuKa on 9 January 2008 promoted a new MXball tournament series with several formats and locations. It described a proposed final stop in Playa del Carmen, near Cancún, and directed readers to LiveTheSport for further information.[1]

This announcement documents the intended programme, rather than confirming that its advertised rounds took place.

Documented competition

[edit]

In a post dated 24 November 2008, subsequently edited on 25 November, the MXball promotion-staff account Takas@mxball3 stated that the league had held a national five-player X-Ball tournament early in 2008.[2]

On 25 November, the same account explicitly described that tournament as MXball's only event held during the year and stated that six teams had registered.[3] The registration figure is retained as an organiser's statement, rather than a verified count of teams that competed.

The event is covered separately in 2008 MXball Five-Player Event. Its exact dates, field, finishing order and match scores have not been verified.

Abandoned rounds

[edit]

Takas@mxball3 stated that five additional five-player X-Ball events had been planned around Mexico but were abandoned because of insufficient national interest and attendance.[3] These proposed events are therefore distinguished from the early-year tournament described as completed.

Programme element Recovered status
Early-year five-player X-Ball tournament Reported as completed by MXball promotion staff
Five additional planned five-player events Reported as abandoned by the same account

Both statements concern the programme as described by MXball staff in November 2008.[2][3]

Season standings

[edit]

No verified final season standings, overall championship results or season-champion announcement has been recovered. The surviving organiser statements establish a distinction between one reported completed tournament and abandoned plans, but do not supply a season results table.[2][3]
