2008 MXball Five-Player Event
The 2008 MXball five-player event was a five-player X-Ball tournament reported by MXball promotion staff as having taken place early in 2008. In contemporary statements published in November, the staff account Takas@mxball3 described it as MXball's only completed event that year.[1][2]
Competition
[edit]In a PBNation post dated 24 November 2008, subsequently edited on 25 November, Takas@mxball3 stated that MXball had moved from three-player competition in 2006–2007 to a national five-player X-Ball tournament early in 2008.[1]
In a further post on 25 November, the same account stated that six teams had registered for the event.[2] This is an organiser's registration figure, rather than an independently verified count of teams that competed.
The recovered account does not supply the tournament's exact dates, field, finishing order or match scores.[1][2]
Relationship to the announced 2008 programme
[edit]MXball had promoted a broader 2008 programme offering five-player competition, Xball Lite and Xball Arena.[3]
On 25 November, Takas@mxball3 stated that additional five-player events planned around Mexico had been abandoned because of insufficient national attendance and interest. The post explicitly identified the early-year five-player tournament as MXball's only event held during 2008.[2]
The completed competition described in that account should therefore be distinguished from the other announced rounds. Their inclusion in promotional material does not establish that they took place.
