Griffin is an Iranian tournament paintball team documented in domestic competition and the Paintball Asia League Series (PALS). Its international competition profile identifies Qazvin as its home town and Falcon Paintball Field in Qazvin as its associated field.[1]

Griffin finished third in Division 3 at the May 2013 PALS tournament in Malaysia and subsequently competed at Paintball World Cup Asia in 2013 and 2014.[1]

International competition

[edit]

PALS and World Cup Asia, 2013

[edit]

Griffin finished third among eighteen Division 3 teams at the combined PALS second leg, Malaysian Open and MPOC event held from 24 to 26 May 2013.[1]

The team subsequently entered Division 3 at the NAZA World Cup Asia tournament held from 15 to 17 November 2013, finishing 27th among 54 teams.[1]

Its preliminary match records include 2–0 victories against NWP and Imperia, a 1–1 draw against IYD and a 2–0 defeat against CMX Hamoon.[2]

World Cup Asia 2014

[edit]

At World Cup Asia from 7 to 9 November 2014, Griffin competed in Division 2 and finished eleventh among 22 teams.[1]

PBLeagues placed Griffin twelfth in the published 2014 PALS Division 2 season standings with 55 points. The event placing and season ranking were separate results.[3]

Domestic competition

[edit]

National league

[edit]

An Iran Paintball Association report preserved in November 2014 named Griffin third in the premier league, behind Datis and Ariaman. The report described a competition involving eight teams over seven rounds.[4]

Women's competition

[edit]

The association's opening women's professional competition in Karaj on 18 April 2014 included a Griffin entry, which finished sixth among six teams.[5]

At the second IWPL event in 2018, Griffin finished second in the women's electronic three-player competition, behind Datis and ahead of Ariaman and Kartal.[6]

Contemporary sources disagree on the women's team's provincial attribution: Hamshahri identifies Griffin with Qazvin, while the original PFA Media podium caption identifies it with Tehran. Both give Griffin second place.[6][7]

Later club reporting

[edit]

A retrospective published by Tehran Paintball on 9 March 2019 included Griffin among the teams whose results it reported for the Iranian year 1397. It credited Griffin with third place in the national first-division championship and runner-up finishes in the national youth and women's championships. It also described Griffin as overall runner-up in the 2018 TPL competition in Turkey.[8]

These are attributed club-network accounts. The women's national championship claim is distinct from the verified second-event IWPL result.[6][8]
