The 2020 ICPL Windy City Classic was an International Classic Paintball League tournament held at The Badlandz in Crete, Illinois, United States, from 2 to 4 October 2020. It was the second and final event recorded in the league's 2020 championship standings, following the 2020 ICPL Sunshine Classic.[1][2]

Kapp Factory won the professional 10-player division, Saints won the amateur 10-player division, and ac POWERHOUSE won the open five-player competition. The final season standings placed Kapp Factory, MVPS Dark Ops and AAF 2 first in their respective divisions.[2][3]

Background

[edit]

The tournament took place during the disruption to competitive paintball caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A league announcement reproduced by Damn Paintballs on 18 July 2020 cancelled the proposed August and September NXL regional events that were intended to replace the NXL Chicago Open. The announcement stated that the organisation would instead concentrate on the Chicago ICPL event in October and the NXL World Cup in November.[4]

The cancelled NXL regional events were separate from the ICPL Windy City Classic, which subsequently took place.[1][3][4]

Venue and formats

[edit]

The event was held at The Badlandz in Crete, Illinois.[1]

Open five-player competition was scheduled for Friday, 2 October. Professional and amateur 10-player competition was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 3–4 October.[1]
