The 2025 NXL Midwest Open was the third tournament of the 2025 National Xball League season, held at Joyce Park in Fairfield, Ohio, from 19 to 22 June 2025. Professional three-player X-Ball took place on Thursday, followed by the main professional, women's and divisional competitions.[1]

Red Legion won the professional X-Ball division, defeating TonTon FSU 5–3 in the final. The Heroines won the WNXL division with a 3–1 victory over Femmes Fatale.[2]

Dates and venue

[edit]

The official registration record listed the event at Joyce Park, 122 Joe Nuxhall Way, Fairfield, Ohio, from 19 to 22 June 2025.[1]

The NXL's promotional page advertised the main tournament for 20–22 June and described Joyce Park as being outside Cincinnati. The professional three-player competition extended the published event schedule to Thursday, 19 June.[1][3]

Competition formats

[edit]

The published programme specified 15-minute professional X-Ball matches with a six-point mercy rule. WNXL, Semi-Professional and Division 2 used 15-minute matches with a five-point mercy rule. Divisions 3 and 4 used 12-minute matches with a four-point mercy rule, while Division 5 used ten-minute matches with a three-point mercy rule.[1]

Professional three-player X-Ball was listed with seven-minute games. Other formats included divisional, women's and youth five-player competition, Classic Open five-player and seven-player competition, Amateur ten-player competition, and women's, Amateur, Intermediate, Novice and Youth three-player categories.[1]

Professional X-Ball

[edit]

Twenty teams contested the professional division, with ten advancing from the preliminary round.[2]

Red Legion defeated Edmonton Impact 8–4 in the quarter-finals before reaching the final against TonTon FSU. Red Legion won the final 5–3. Houston Heat finished third and San Antonio X-Factor fourth in the official standings.[2][4]

PaintballFIT, winner of the preceding two events, finished fifth after losing 2–1 to X-Factor in the quarter-finals.[2][4]

Professional three-player competition

[edit]

The Thursday professional three-player X-Ball competition attracted 18 teams. San Antonio X-Factor finished first, Edmonton Impact second and San Diego Dynasty third.[1][4]

This competition had separate results from the main professional five-player X-Ball tournament.[4]

Women's competition

[edit]

Ten teams contested WNXL X-Ball. The Heroines defeated Femmes Fatale 3–1 in the final, with Dallas Vibe finishing third and Suricatos fourth.[1][2][4]

The final was a rematch of the teams' semi-final at the 2025 NXL Tampa Bay Open. Heroines player Daniela Rojas described the Midwest victory as a response to that earlier defeat. Rojas received the WNXL overall MVP award, while Nana Blanco received the finals MVP award.[5]

Dallas Dolls won the separate women's five-player competition. The women's three-player category featured two Dallas Dolls entries, with Dallas Dolls 3v3 1 finishing ahead of Dallas Dolls 3v3 2.[4]
