The 2013 PSP Mid-Atlantic Open was a Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) tournament held from 3–5 May 2013 at Outdoor Xtreme Chesapeake City (OXCC) in Chesapeake City, Maryland, United States. It was the second event of the 2013 PSP season and introduced the professional Challengers division alongside the Champions division.[1][2]

San Diego Dynasty won Champions, finishing ahead of Tampa Bay Damage, Edmonton Impact and Los Angeles Ironmen. Omaha Vicious won Challengers, with upTon 187 cRew finishing second.[3][4]

Venue and formats

[edit]

The venue was Outdoor Xtreme Chesapeake City, at 2941 Old Telegraph Road. PSP returned to OXCC following its first tournament there in 2012, moving the Mid-Atlantic Open from August to May.[1][2]

Both professional divisions played RaceTo-7. Divisions 1 and 2 played RaceTo-5, while Divisions 3 and 4 played RaceTo-4. Additional competitions included divisional RaceTo-2 and open pump RaceTo-2.[1]

Professional competition

[edit]

Champions

[edit]

Dynasty secured its second consecutive PSP tournament victory, following the 2013 PSP Dallas Open. Tampa Bay Damage again finished second.[3][4]

Moscow Red Legion and Chattanooga C.E.P were relegated to Challengers for the following event. Los Angeles Infamous and TonTons Flingueurs retained their Champions places.[4]

Challengers

[edit]

The Mid-Atlantic Open launched PSP's professional Challengers competition. The format provided a route for its leading teams to enter Champions at the following tournament.[2]

Omaha Vicious defeated upTon 187 cRew 4–1 in the Challengers final. Both teams earned promotion to Champions for the 2013 PSP Chicago Open.[4]

The official standings combine the professional divisions in one list: Champions occupy places 1–10 and Challengers places 11–20. The tables below present their finishing orders separately.[3]
