2011 NPPL Chicago Open
The 2011 NPPL Chicago Open was the second event of the 2011 National Professional Paintball League season. It took place from 20–22 May 2011 at CPX Sports, also known as Challenge Park Extreme, near Joliet, Illinois. San Diego Dynasty won the professional division, defeating St. Louis Avalanche in the final. [1][2]
The tournament shared its venue and weekend with Living Legends IV, bringing national tournament competition and a major scenario paintball event together at CPX. [3][4]
Venue and Living Legends
[edit]CPX provided both tournament fields and themed recreational playing areas. Living Legends was produced by Viper Scenarios, while the NPPL competition occupied the tournament fields. [1]
Contemporary reporting from the venue described Living Legends as a two-day scenario game taking place alongside the professional tournament. [4]
The combined event was promoted to vendors as an opportunity to reach tournament, scenario and recreational players during the same weekend. A separate five-player scenario tournament, Defuse Bedlam, was also advertised for 19–20 May, with entry included for paid Living Legends and NPPL participants. [3][5]
Professional competition
[edit]Dynasty defeated Edmonton Impact in the semi-finals and then won two consecutive games against St. Louis Avalanche in the final. Portland Uprising defeated Impact for third place. [1]
The victory gave Dynasty consecutive wins at the opening two NPPL events of 2011, following the 2011 NPPL Huntington Beach Open. Planet Eclipse's contemporary report also confirmed Dynasty's Chicago victory and Impact's fourth-place finish. [2][6]

Division 2 source discrepancy
[edit]WARPIG identifies LSD Savage as Division 2 winners, describing a victory over 3CT in the deciding third game. The contemporary ProPaintball results reproduced by PBHub instead list 3CT first and LSD Savage second. ThisISPaintball's post-event report independently congratulated 3CT on winning Division 2. [1][2][3]
Pump competition
[edit]Total Greif won the pump division without losing a game during the tournament, defeating Zero in two consecutive games in the final. [1]
