The 2004 NPPL Denver Open was the third event of the 2004 NPPL Super 7 season. Held in Denver, Colorado, in July 2004, it featured professional and Division I–III seven-man competition. Infamous won the professional division ahead of XSV.[1][2]

Venue and organisation

[edit]

Pure Promotions staged the tournament in the parking area beside Invesco Field. Artificial turf covered the asphalt playing surface. Competition ran from Friday to Sunday, with the Vans Warped Tour joining the venue on Sunday evening.[1]

Professional competition

[edit]

The event followed an NXL rule change permitting its players to compete in Super 7 tournaments. The NPPL classified NXL participants as professional players.[1]

NXL franchise-name restrictions affected the names used by returning teams: Chicago Aftershock competed as Shock, the Los Angeles Ironmen as The Men, and Oakland Assassins players as Ironmen.[1]

XSV defeated Dynasty in the semi-finals, while Infamous beat Avalanche in two games. Infamous then defeated XSV two games to one in the final. Dynasty secured third place with two wins over Avalanche.[1]

The following top-four finishes are recorded by ClassicScores and corroborated by WARPIG's contemporary report.[1][2]
