2003 NPPL Las Vegas Open
The 2003 NPPL Las Vegas Open was a seven-player paintball tournament held from 10 to 13 April 2003 at the Sam Boyd Stadium complex in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. Produced by Pure Promotions, it was the second event of the NPPL Super 7 World Series.[1]
San Diego Dynasty won Professional, KAPP Factory won Amateur, Shockwave Los Angeles won Novice and Team RM won Rookie.[2][3]
Venue and organisation
[edit]Five inflatable-bunker fields were constructed on grass practice areas beside the stadium. They surrounded a central player compound containing individual staging tents, technical support and tournament administration. The main NPPL field had spectator grandstands and hosted the professional semi-finals and finals.[1]
Teams walked the fields on Thursday, with preliminary competition beginning on Friday. Strong winds damaged netting and a support pole on Saturday, requiring overnight repairs before Sunday's play.[1]
Competition format
[edit]Eight teams advanced to the quarter-finals in Professional and Amateur, with sixteen advancing in Novice and Rookie. Four teams per division progressed to paired semi-finals.[1]
The professional championship match used a best-of-five format, extending the best-of-three system used at Huntington Beach. Other placement finals remained best-of-three.[1]
