The 2014 Malaysian National Paintball League (MY-NPL) was announced as a four-event tournament paintball season in Malaysia, with competitions scheduled in Petaling Jaya and Malacca.[1]

The second event, scheduled for 5–6 April at Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, was disrupted by police action concerning paintball markers. Contemporary coverage described a cancellation, while a federation statement reproduced in that coverage said the tournament was permitted to proceed using licensed house markers.[2]

[edit]

A schedule published in December 2013 listed the following proposed events.[1]

Advertised competition format

[edit]

The announcement stated that all divisions, including Division 4, would use PSP Race-format competition in 2014.[1]

Division 1 was described as an Amateur category using Race-to-4 with ten-minute matches. Teams could register ten active players, with a maximum of five players on the field in each match.[1]

Malacca event disruption

[edit]

On 5 April, Social Paintball reported that police had intervened at the second MY-NPL event in Malacca. The report estimated approximately 450 participants travelling from Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.[2]

The article reproduced a statement by Muhammad Muhsin bin Mohammed, identified as secretary of the Malaysian Paintball Federation and a member of the MY-NPL secretariat. The statement described a police operation to locate allegedly unlicensed imitation arms and said that, although MY-NPL was a licensed event, play was permitted only with licensed house markers.[2]

The federation stated that it had contacted police headquarters at Bukit Aman and sought support from the Sports Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Ministry of Home Affairs.[2]

The report does not provide completed tournament results.
