Bad Karma was a Rotorua-based New Zealand tournament paintball team documented competing between 2003 and 2005. The team also entered tournaments using the numbered squad names Bad Karma 1, Bad Karma 2 and Bad Karma #1. These were entries belonging to the same team rather than separate organisations.

History

[edit]

2003 Auckland Super 5s

[edit]

Bad Karma fielded two squads during the first half of the 2003 Auckland Super 5s season. The contemporary mid-year standings recorded five rounds from February to June.[1]

Bad Karma 1 accumulated 1,422 points, while Bad Karma 2 accumulated 1,248 points.[1] These were mid-year cumulative totals and should not be treated as final full-season placings.

Squad February March April May June Mid-year total
Bad Karma 1 156 415 389 462 0 1,422
Bad Karma 2 42 419 0 587 0 1,248

2003 Auckland Queen's Birthday Superball

[edit]

At the 2003 Auckland Queen's Birthday Superball, Bad Karma competed as a single entry. The team scored 884 points during the preliminary stage, qualified for the four-team Cup final and finished fourth.[2]

Place Team Preliminary points
1 Phoenix 701
2 Raiders 809
3 Saints 1,076
4 Bad Karma 884

The preliminary scores in this table are not final-round scores and therefore do not determine the published finishing order.

2005 Auckland Queen's Birthday Superball

[edit]

Bad Karma returned for the 2005 Auckland Queen's Birthday Superball at the Kumeu Showgrounds.[3] Contemporary forum discussion identifies Boog as the team's captain.[3]

Bad Karma qualified for the Plate stage but surrendered its finals position to Wellington Impact. The decision was described by Bad Karma members as intended to allow a developing team to contest the Plate final.[3] Bad Karma should therefore not be assigned Impact's subsequent Plate placing.

A player who filled in for Bad Karma identified teammates by the names or nicknames Pete, Boog, B, Reg and Seth.[3] These references do not establish a complete roster. Contributor identification associates Boog with Gavin Mumby and Pete with Peter Mumby. The identity of Reg remains uncertain; a possible identification as Reg Low has not been independently verified.
