Smash and Grab was a New Zealand competitive paintball team documented at the 2004 Rotorua Paintball Tournament, where it finished second in the Cup competition. The team was later listed as Smash n Grab in paid-entry records for a Wellington tournament planned for Easter 2006.[1][2]

Smash and Grab is treated as distinct from the earlier three-player entry Smash, which appeared in 2002 and as Smash (Phantom) in 2003. A contributor familiar with the New Zealand teams identifies the first three Smash records as one Phantom-associated identity and regards the later Smash and Grab records as a different team. No shared roster or contemporary continuity statement connecting the two identities has been recovered.

2004 Rotorua tournament

Smash and Grab competed at the 2004 Rotorua tournament, held at Rotorua International Stadium over Labour Weekend. Twenty-three teams competed across two airball fields before being divided into Cup and Plate competitions.[1]

In the Cup semi-finals, Smash and Grab defeated Raiderz. The team then faced the Australian team Sydney SWAT in a best-of-three final. The teams won one game each before Sydney SWAT won the deciding game, giving Smash and Grab second place in the Cup. Wellington Easter 2006

Contemporary planning records for the Wellington Easter 2006 tournament listed Smash n Grab among the teams that had paid. The event was planned for the Grenada North playing fields.[2][3]
