WarPigs (New Zealand Paintball Team)
WarPigs was an Invercargill-based New Zealand competitive paintball team. The team was a finalist at the 1998 National Three-Man Centre Flag Competition, where it finished second in the published end-results table before the final.[1]
Tournament history
[edit]WarPigs competed at the National Three-Man Centre Flag Competition held in Invercargill over Queen's Birthday weekend in 1998. Four teams played six matches each over one and a half days, using three-player centre-flag games on two fields.[1]
The contemporary report identified Allan Grigg as captain, with Mark Anderson and Craig Martin completing the entry. Martin was also listed as reserve for S.L.O.B.s; the report explained that the tournament rules allowed a player to reserve for two teams.[1]
WarPigs recorded 278 points in the published end-results table, placing second behind S.L.O.B.s on 291 and ahead of K.S.B. and The Last Boy Scouts. The report's accompanying prose states that the leading teams were separated by 22 points, although the printed totals differ by 13 points.[1]
WarPigs and S.L.O.B.s advanced to a final for which their scores were reset to zero. The report states that the final was decided by nine points but does not identify the winner or publish the final score. WarPigs can therefore be verified as a finalist, but not as the tournament champion or runner-up.[1]
Mark Anderson received the tournament's Most Improved Player award.[1]
