Urban Combat was an indoor paintball venue in Pakuranga, Auckland, New Zealand. It hosted the 1999 Urban Combat Pairs Open and the 2000 Auckland Indoor 3-Man Open. Its archived website listed the playing address as Unit 3, 57 Ben Lomonde Crescent, off Cascades Road.[1][2][3]

Facilities

[edit]

A July 1999 tournament report described an indoor barricade field covering approximately 8,000 square feet.[1]

The venue advertised games by advance booking at any time of day or night, with a week's notice requested. Its lighting included black lights, and games could also be played in darkness.[3]

The archived equipment and pricing page listed Sterling auto-trigger rental markers, full-face masks, supervised games and a barbecue facility available on request.[4]

Tournaments

[edit]

On 11 July 1999, Urban Combat hosted a six-team, two-player centre-flag tournament. G.I. Bob won with 220 points. The contemporary report identified the field operator as Collin.[1]

On 1 December 2000, the venue hosted a four-team indoor three-player open tournament. Kamo Karzi won with 125 points, five ahead of Solidaire. The report noted that the field layout had been changed before the competition.[2]

Company records

[edit]

Urban Combat Limited, company number 199584 and NZBN 9429040035895, was incorporated on 7 January 1981 as Breakdown Electrical Limited. The Companies Register records that former name until 21 May 1998 and lists Colin McVicker Boggust as a director.[5]

A later Yellow directory listing identifies Urban Combat Ltd as a paintball business using the same telephone number as the archived Pakuranga website. That listing gives an Ōtāhuhu address. It does not establish when the Pakuranga venue ceased operating or whether a playing field relocated there.[3][6]
