Nemesis (Australian Paintball Team)
Nemesis, also recorded as Team Nemesis, was an Australian paintball team associated with Splatball Village in Carrum Downs, Victoria. Contemporary records document its involvement in local tournament paintball and preparations for the Splatfest '96 scenario game.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]Early competition
[edit]In correspondence published in the December 1995–February 1996 issue of Australian Paintballer, a member identified as Neil stated that Nemesis had existed for approximately twelve months. He invited other teams to participate in entry-level competition using pump-action markers, with the option of limited paint.[1]
A separate letter in the same issue, from Rat Pak captain Pat Hookem, identified Nemesis as another Carrum Downs team and described games between the two sides.[1]
Nemesis also competed at the Frankston Five-Man Tournament at Splatball Village, Frankston. Twelve teams entered the event, which used rental SL-II pump markers and an 80-paintball limit. Nemesis did not reach the four-team finals; the report does not establish its final placing.[4]
1996 Victorian Three-Man Series
[edit]Nemesis competed in the 1996 Victorian Three-Man Series, organised by the Victorian Paintball Players Association. At the opening round, it scored 134 preliminary points.[5]
The published overall series standings recorded Nemesis with 178 points.[2]
Splatfest '96
[edit]An announcement in Australian Paintballer identified Team Nemesis, Splatball Village and the Splatball HQ Pro Shop as organisers of Splatfest '96.[3]
The event was advertised for 4 May 1996 at Splatball Village Cockatoo. Its planned format was a five-hour scenario game titled The Moonshine Feud, based on the Hatfields and McCoys. The announcement documents the preparations rather than confirming that the event took place.[3]
