The Perentie Viper was a custom double-barrel paintball marker built by Bruce Roberts of Perentie Paintball for Mike Wallis. It combined two Perentie Badger blow-forward actions operated through a single trigger mechanism.[1]

Development

[edit]

The project developed from discussions between Roberts and Wallis about constructing a double-barrel Badger. Roberts subsequently produced drawings for the firing mechanism, and the pair proceeded with a one-off marker.[1]

Wallis documented its construction and initial use in “Double Trouble”, published in Paint. The report described it as unsuitable for most Australian tournaments and intended for occasional scenario and big-game play.[1]

Design

[edit]

The two actions were positioned with their sears facing inwards. A cam on the trigger operated rollers attached to the sears, firing the barrels in succession. The mechanism could also discharge a single shot.[1]

The completed marker incorporated two 16-inch barrels, stainless-steel receivers, mahogany grips, gold-anodised components, a shoulder stock and a bipod. Each action was supplied by a separate ViewLoader VL2000 hopper.[1]

The Viper used a remote gas supply and was designed primarily for compressed air. Wallis reported that rapid firing caused problems when using carbon dioxide.[1]

Production

[edit]

The contemporary account identified the Viper as a one-off custom project, with no planned commercial production.[1]
