The 2006 Northland Open was a five-player paintball tournament held at an indoor venue in Auckland, New Zealand. Eight teams competed. Kaos and Snipers were reported as joint winners, followed by Legion and XXX.[1]

The surviving post-event report was published on 6 February 2006 but does not state the tournament's exact date or identify the Auckland venue by name.[1]

Organisation and format

[edit]

The tournament used a five-player format. Two permanent referees officiated, with teams also supplying referees during their scheduled bye rounds.[1]

The report described the venue only as an indoor Auckland paintball facility.[1]

Results

[edit]

The contemporary report supplied the following leading order. It did not publish scores or placings below fourth.[1]

Position Team Notes
=1 Kaos Reported as joint winner
=1 Snipers Reported as joint winner; event squad comprised players from Saints and Menace
3 Legion Event squad reported as Kenny, Ollie, Matty, Rob and an unnamed Raiderz player
4 XXX No score or roster supplied

The other four participating teams were not named in the surviving report.[1]

Documented players

[edit]

The report described Snipers as a combined event squad formed from Saints and Menace players, but did not name the individual players.[1]

Legion's reported event line-up was Kenny, Ollie, Matty, Rob and an unnamed Raiderz player. A later reply by RePete states that he played at the tournament with Sy, Gazza, Rob and a player named Todd. The reply does not name that line-up's team, so the two lists cannot be combined into a single Legion roster.[1]

The discussion subsequently identifies the Todd who played with RePete as a different person from Antony Martinez, who was known as “THE Todd”.[1]
