Chad George is an American professional paintball player from Berwick, Pennsylvania. Known primarily for his performances in the snake position, George has competed for teams including the Philadelphia Americans, Edmonton Impact and Houston Heat. His career includes multiple professional championships in Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) and the National Xball League (NXL).[1][2]

George was part of Philadelphia Americans' 2009 PSP professional season championship team and Houston Heat's 2012 PSP World Cup and series championship roster. He subsequently contributed to Heat's consecutive NXL World Cup victories in 2018 and 2019.[2][4][8][9]

Playing career

[edit]

Early career and Philadelphia Americans

[edit]

George began playing paintball in 2003 with friends from high school.

He initially competed for All American Heroes, a developmental team associated with the All Americans organisation. In a 2012 interview, George recalled that Spesh Robinson invited him to join the Philadelphia Americans professional roster in 2007.[1]

George became an established member of Philadelphia's professional X-Ball squad.

During the 2009 PSP season, Philadelphia Americans won the Phoenix Open and recorded further podium finishes at the Mid-Atlantic Open and Chicago Open.

The team reached the professional final of the 2009 PSP World Cup, finishing second to Boston Red Legion. Nevertheless, Philadelphia secured the overall PSP professional series championship.[2]

Edmonton Impact

[edit]

George subsequently joined Canadian professional team Edmonton Impact, competing with the organisation before his move to Houston Heat.

His involvement with Impact included professional tournament competition in the PSP and National Professional Paintball League (NPPL).[3]

Houston Heat (2012–2025)

[edit]

On 4 February 2012, Houston Heat announced that George would join its newly established professional roster.

Team owner Randy "Sarge" Smith recruited George alongside established players including Konstantin Fedorov, Samuel Monville, Chad Bouchez, Ronnie Dizon and Sergei Solnyshkov.[3]

George played as a front-position specialist, primarily on the snake side.

Houston Heat won the 2012 PSP World Cup, defeating Tampa Bay Damage 4–2 in the professional final.

The victory completed a successful inaugural season in which Houston Heat also won the overall PSP professional series championship. George was included in the championship roster documented by team sponsor G.I. Sportz.[4]

Despite reports in November 2013 suggesting that George might leave Houston Heat, the organisation subsequently confirmed that he would remain for the 2014 season.[5]

George continued competing with Houston Heat through the transition from PSP to the NXL in 2015.

2017 NXL Texas Open

[edit]

George played a decisive role in Houston Heat's victory at the 2017 NXL Texas Open.

The professional final against Edmonton Impact finished 4–4 in regulation time, sending the match into overtime.

With approximately 16 seconds remaining, George eliminated Impact player Keith Brown, securing the tournament championship for Houston Heat.[6]

The victory became one of the notable individual performances of his career.

World Cup championships (2018–2019)

[edit]

George remained part of Houston Heat's professional roster during its championship-winning 2018 season.

At the 2018 NXL World Cup, Houston Heat advanced to the professional final against Moscow Red Legion.

Heat won 5–4, securing the World Cup title and the overall 2018 NXL professional series championship.[7][8]

The team repeated its World Cup success in November 2019, again meeting Moscow Red Legion in the final.

Houston Heat won 7–6 to claim its second consecutive NXL World Cup championship.[9]

George continued as a regular member of Houston Heat throughout the early 2020s, with PBLeagues recording his participation in the 2023, 2024 and 2025 NXL seasons.[10]

Return to Edmonton Impact (2026)

[edit]

In February 2026, Edmonton Impact announced that George would rejoin the organisation for the upcoming NXL season, ending his longstanding association with Houston Heat.[11]

He competed for Impact at the Tampa Bay Open, Mid-Atlantic Open and Midwest Open during the first half of 2026.

At the NXL Midwest Open, held from 25 to 28 June 2026, Edmonton Impact won the professional X-Ball championship. George was registered on the team's tournament roster and participated in five matches.[12][13]

George remained associated with Edmonton Impact during the 2026 season.

Playing style

[edit]

George is primarily associated with the snake position, a forward attacking role in competitive X-Ball.

He developed a reputation for aggressive movement combined with the ability to remain in advanced field positions.

Contemporary NXL scouting reports identified him as a major attacking player for Houston Heat and highlighted his performance in decisive tournament situations.[8]

Paintball publication Iconic Paintball included George in its 2021 ranking of historical professional players, particularly noting his longevity and performance as a snake-side attacker.[14]
