Breakout Spa

Breakout Spa is a Belgian professional paintball team associated with Spa and the Breakout Arena training field in Sprimont. The team has competed in the Millennium Series and NXL Europe, winning the 2022 British Invitational and the 2025 European Championships.[1][2][3]

History

Millennium Series

Breakout Spa competed in the Millennium Series before the establishment of NXL Europe. Its international players included Mykel Kovar, who discussed his experience with the team in a January 2013 interview. Kovar credited playing different roles for Breakout Spa with broadening his understanding of competitive paintball.[2]

Archie Montemayor also represented the team in Europe before moving to Toulouse TonTons for the 2017 Millennium Series season.[4]

NXL Europe

Breakout Spa competed in the professional division during NXL Europe's inaugural 2018 season, with appearances at Chartres, Prague, Basildon and Paris-Chantilly.[1]

In July 2022, the team won the British Invitational at CPPS. Breakout Spa defeated Lucky 15s Staffordshire in the final, scoring the decisive point with eight seconds remaining after the teams had been tied at 4–4. The Lucky 15s' contemporary account described the result as Breakout Spa's first professional event victory.[3]

Further podium finishes followed in 2024, when Breakout Spa placed third at the Portugal Invitational and second at the British Invitational.[1]

2025 European success

Breakout Spa won the professional division at the 2025 NXL European Championships in Dreux, France, finishing first among 20 teams. The victory followed third place in Portugal and fourth place at the British Invitational earlier that season.[1]

The team also secured the 2025 NXL Europe season title, as recorded in Paintball Media's subsequent coverage of the 2026 circuit.[5]

At the 2025 NXL World Cup in the United States, Breakout Spa defeated Edmonton Impact 4–2 during the preliminary rounds. The team reached the professional quarter-finals, where it lost 6–0 to San Antonio X-Factor.[6]

Breakout Spa continued competing in NXL Europe's professional X-Ball division during 2026.[1]

Training base

Tournament records identify Breakout Arena in Sprimont, Belgium, as the team's home field. The Lucky 15s also documented travelling to train with Breakout Spa during the 2022 season, including preparation for the British Invitational.[1][3]
