Scott Kemp
Scott Kemp is an American paintball player and fitness trainer whose professional career has included the Los Angeles Ironmen, San Antonio X-Factor and San Diego Dynasty. He is also a founding member of BKI Paintball, where he developed training material focused on fitness and nutrition for tournament players.[1][2][3]
Playing career
[edit]Early career and Los Angeles Ironmen
[edit]Kemp began his professional career with the Los Angeles Ironmen. His subsequent teams included Sacramento XSV and Legacy before he returned to the Ironmen.[1]
He remained associated with the Ironmen through much of the following period, but left during the 2012 season and played for Los Angeles Infamous at that year's PSP World Cup.[4]
San Antonio X-Factor
[edit]In January 2013, San Antonio X-Factor announced Kemp's addition to its roster. Contemporary coverage identified him as a reinforcement for the team's dorito side.[4]
Kemp spent three seasons with X-Factor, from 2013 to 2015. In announcing his departure, he described the period as an important part of his development and praised his former teammates.[1]
Return to the Ironmen
[edit]On 11 December 2015, DYE Precision announced Kemp's return to the Ironmen for the 2016 season. The announcement described this as his third spell with the team and highlighted both his playing experience and his ability to support the squad's physical conditioning.[1]
Kemp remained on the published Ironmen roster for 2017, under head coach Todd Martinez. His retirement from professional paintball was reported in November that year.[5][6]
San Diego Dynasty
[edit]Kemp subsequently returned to professional competition with San Diego Dynasty. Tournament records list him with the team during 2020, including its winning World Cup campaign.[3]
Fitness and player development
[edit]Kemp combined professional paintball with work as a personal trainer. A 2016 Sports Illustrated feature discussed his approach to paintball conditioning, including sprinting, endurance work and drills designed to reproduce movements used during matches.[2]
He also developed exercises that players could perform away from a paintball field, using weighted equipment to approximate the load carried during play.[2]
As a founding member of BKI Paintball, Kemp contributed a collection of fitness and nutrition lessons aimed at tournament players.[7]
