Andrew Loh Chie Loong, commonly known as Andrew Loh, is a Malaysian paintball-industry representative associated with Werdna Hol Sportz and the development of organised paintball in Malaysia.

Contemporary records identify Loh as a Werdna Hol representative by 2007 and as a paintball-equipment vendor associated with the business in 2010.[1][2] An academic legal study concerning the regulation of paintball equipment in Malaysia acknowledged his contribution as a Werdna Hol Sportz representative and described him as a pioneer in the Malaysian paintball industry.[3]

Loh also participated in the documented 2010 initiative to establish the Malaysia Paintball Federation, although he was included on a proposed pre-hearing committee list rather than the provisional committee subsequently announced.[2]

Paintball involvement

[edit]

Werdna Hol Sportz

[edit]

Loh was associated with Werdna Hol Sportz, a Malaysian paintball business involved in equipment sales, events and playing facilities.

A July 2007 announcement for the scenario event Paintball Command & Conquer identified “Patrick or Andrew” as the Werdna Hol contacts at SS15, Subang Jaya.[1] Werdna Hol was one of several Malaysian paintball businesses used as registration points for the event.

The announcement establishes Loh's operational association with Werdna Hol by 2007. It does not identify his formal position, ownership interest or the date on which he joined the business.

A 2010 federation document later gave his full name as Andrew Loh Chie Loong and identified him as a vendor associated with “Werdnahol”.[2]

Werdna Hol Sportz subsequently operated the Werd Training Facility in Bandar Bukit Puchong. Independent records document paintball events at that venue during the mid-2010s.[4][5] The available sources do not establish Loh's precise role in the later facility or whether he remained involved throughout that period.

Werdna Hol Cup

[edit]

The Werdna Hol Cup was a Malaysian three-player tournament series associated with Werdna Hol Sportz. Contemporary paintball coverage records multiple rounds during 2007 and identifies the series as an entry-level competition used by developing teams.[6][7]

Loh's association with Werdna Hol connects him with the business behind the series, but no located contemporary source specifically identifies him as its sole founder or tournament director.

A later account by Patrick Tan stated that Tan had run the three-player Werdna Hol Cup league.[8] The respective responsibilities of Tan, Loh and other Werdna Hol personnel have not been fully documented. The tournament series should therefore not be attributed exclusively to Loh without further organiser records.

Paintball regulation

[edit]

Loh contributed information to an academic legal study examining whether Malaysian law required more specific regulation of paintball equipment.

The study's acknowledgements thanked Andrew Loh of Werdna Hol Sportz for sharing his experience and described him as a pioneer in the paintball industry.[3]

The study provides independent evidence of his recognised industry experience. Its description should not be extended into specific claims about legislation, lobbying or regulatory outcomes unless those activities are documented elsewhere in the study.

Malaysia Paintball Federation initiative

[edit]

In February 2010, Loh was included in a proposed list of representatives for the planned Malaysia Paintball Federation. The document identified him as:

Mr. Andrew Loh Chie Loong – Vendor (Werdnahol).[2]

The list was prepared by Paul WY Lam and submitted to the Sports Commissioner's Office during the public hearing held on 25 February 2010. It remained subject to acceptance by the proposed participants.[2]

Following the hearing, a different provisional steering committee was announced on 27 February. Loh was not named among its published officeholders or additional committee members.[2]

His appearance on the original list documents his proposed participation as an industry representative. It should not be interpreted as evidence that he accepted the appointment, attended the hearing, became a federation officer or was later elected to its committee.

Other attributed activities

[edit]

Later online profile material has attributed the creation of the World Paintball Players League, CAP3 and MY-National Paintball Championship tournaments to Loh.[9]

No sufficiently reliable organiser record or independent contemporary source confirming those claims has been located. They should not presently be presented as established facts.

The World Paintball Players League was active in Malaysia during the early 2010s and used Werdna Hol websites and facilities in connection with some of its events.[10] This establishes an association between WPPL and the Werdna Hol organisation, but not Loh's exact title or personal responsibility for founding the league.

Relationship with other people and organisations

[edit]

Patrick Tan

[edit]

Patrick Tan was separately associated with Werdna Hol Sportz and later with Pro Paintball. His retrospective account stated that he had operated the Werdna Hol Cup league.[8]

Loh and Tan should be treated as separate people. Their shared association with Werdna Hol does not establish identical responsibilities or ownership.

Malaysia Paintball Federation

[edit]

Loh was one of several commercial paintball representatives proposed for participation in the federation initiative. Others included equipment suppliers, field operators, tournament promoters and referees.[2]

His proposed involvement did not make Werdna Hol a department of the federation and does not establish that the business controlled the initiative.
