1994 Northwest Police-Firefighters Olympic Games paintball tournament
```mediawiki The 1994 Northwest Police-Firefighters Olympic Games paintball tournament was a five-player paintball competition held at Hit & Run Paint War Games in Scappoose, Oregon, during the 17th annual Northwest Police-Firefighters Olympic Games. Seven teams representing police, correctional and fire services from the United States and Canada entered the tournament.[1]
The Chico Fire Department of California won the gold medal after completing the tournament without losing a game.[1]
Organisation
The tournament formed part of the Northwest Police-Fire Athletic Federation's annual summer games. The wider event brought together personnel from law-enforcement agencies and fire departments for sporting competition intended to promote physical fitness and camaraderie.[1]
David A. Kramer, a firefighter and paintball player, coordinated the paintball tournament. It was held at Hit & Run Paint War Games in Scappoose, Oregon.[1]
Teams
The seven participating teams were:
- Washougal Police Department, Washington
- Spokane Corrections, Washington
- Blaine Fire Department, Washington
- Bio-Hazard, representing the Clark County Fire Department, Washington
Format
A guided inspection of the playing field and a mandatory captains' meeting were held before play. Markers were chronographed to a maximum velocity of 290 feet per second.[1]
Each five-player team competed in at least seven capture-the-flag games. Games had a 15-minute time limit, and each player was restricted to 100 paintballs per game. To win, a team had to capture its opponent's flag and return it to its own flag station.[1]
The tournament did not use a points system. Placings were determined by the number of games won, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to every member of the first-, second- and third-placed teams.[1]
