The 1993 Pacific Stockgun Paintball Championships was a five-player stock-class paintball tournament held at Island Paintball Sports at Kualoa Ranch, near Kaneohe on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The tournament was organised by field owner and operator Lindy "EL-T" Terao and brought together Hawaiian teams, visiting California teams and a combined Hawaii–California team.[1]

Local team Combat Crew won the tournament, followed by the combined C and H team, Squids with Cannons and Team TASO.[1]

Venue

The tournament was played at Island Paintball Sports, located at Kualoa Ranch Recreation Resort on the windward side of Oahu. The playing field incorporated large trees, constructed bunkers, hills, areas of smaller trees and low brush.[1]

Island Paintball Sports was operated by Lindy "EL-T" Terao, who also organised the championship.[1]

Format and equipment rules

The competition used a five-player capture-the-flag format. The original schedule called for every team to play each opposing team once, with trophies awarded to the three highest-placed teams.[1]

Participation was restricted to stock-class paintball markers. The tournament rules defined these as markers powered by a single 12-gram CO2 cartridge and fitted with a parallel-feed system. Direct-feed systems and constant-air tanks were prohibited, although markers equipped with auto-triggers were permitted.[1]

The tournament was originally scheduled for eight rounds. Competition continued until late in the day, and time restrictions led the team captains to vote to conclude the event after six rounds. Consequently, not every team completed the intended round-robin schedule.[1]

Members of Counterstrike and Tropical Lightning refereed the competition.[1]

Participating teams

The documented Hawaiian teams were:

  • Banana Peels
  • Combat Crew
  • D and D
  • Ronin Dat
  • Ronin Dis
  • Semis Only, associated with Tropical Lightning

The visiting California entries were Team TASO and Squids with Cannons. Their players were associated with Carter Machine, TASO and Unique Sporting.[1]

C and H was a combined team containing players from Good, Bad and Deadly of California and Tropical Lightning of Hawaii.[1]

Visiting players identified in the contemporary report included Earon Carter of Carter Machine, Rose Griffith of Unique Sporting, John Pope, Paul Price and Isaac Griego of TASO, Rob Kerr and Erik Ward of Good, Bad and Deadly, Emery Abo of Fatal Swoop, Peter Esqueda of Team Generic, and Fernando "Covershot" Castillo of Carter Machine Products.[1]
