The 2003 NPPL Commander's Cup was a seven-player paintball tournament held in November 2003 at Tamiami Park in Miami, Florida, United States. Organised by the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Pure Promotions, it concluded the inaugural NPPL Super 7 season and attracted 138 teams.[1]

Background

The tournament developed from plans made by musician and paintball player Maurice Gibb in 2002 for an event in the Bahamas. Restrictions on paintball equipment prompted a move to Miami. Following Gibb's death, the organisers continued the project as a memorial, incorporating charity auctions and fundraising activities.[1]

A proposed beach venue was subsequently replaced by Tamiami Park, with the event's dates also changed.[1]

Tournament

Seven fields hosted competition across Professional, Amateur, Novice and Rookie divisions. Preliminary games took place on Friday and Saturday, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and placing matches on Sunday.[1]

The revised advancement rules sent twelve Professional and twelve Amateur teams into quarter-finals. Each division then produced three group winners and one wild-card semi-finalist. Novice and Rookie each advanced sixteen teams into four quarter-final groups.[1]

Diesel competed under its new name after previously playing as Vicious. Team RM, winner of the first four American Rookie events, moved into Novice for the finale.[1]
