Kamo Karzi (New Zealand Paintball Team)
Kamo Karzi, also written Kamokarzi, was an Auckland-based New Zealand tournament paintball team documented in the Valhalla National Rankings from 1997 to 2001. The team ranked third in the published 1997 standings and competed at RotoVegas and the New Zealand Paintball Nationals in 2001.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
History
Kamo Karzi placed third in the 1997 Valhalla rankings with a score of 74. It subsequently ranked ninth in 1998 with 43 points, ninth in 1999 with 63 points and eighteenth in 2000 with 59 points.[1][2][3][4]
In the seven-player standings dated October 2001, Kamo Karzi ranked tenth with 111.4 cumulative points. Its recorded contributions were 63.9 points from the opening round of RotoVegas and 47.5 points from the opening round of the New Zealand Paintball Nationals.[5]
These figures were calculated for Valhalla ranking purposes and were not the tournaments' raw game scores.[5][7]
Historical photograph
A photograph published by the House Steiner Facebook profile identifies Kamo Karzi at an Actions tournament in Auckland. Although the original caption tentatively names Takanini, a comment by Andrew Walbran identifies the venue as Actions at Te Atatū North and suggests 1997–1998. James Keogan identifies the year as 1997 in a separate comment.[8]
These are retrospective identifications. The photograph was uploaded on 23 August 2011; that is its publication date, rather than the date it was taken.[8]
Players
The historical team photograph contains tags identifying James Keogan and Wayne Carkeek. In a comment, Carkeek recalls retaining his Kamo Karzi team badges and a speedball shirt numbered 3.[8]
A contemporary Mercenaries Star directory also identifies a Kamo Karzi member known as Spider, who maintained a personal paintball website.[6]
These sources do not establish a complete team roster.

- The 2001 table is dated October 2001. Its cumulative scores are not directly comparable with the averaged scores used in earlier seasons. Valhalla rankings were separate from placings at individual tournaments.[5][7]
Team website
Mercenaries Star listed an Auckland team website under the name Kamokarzi, hosted at webel.co.nz/kk/. The same directory linked to Spiders Paintball, describing its operator as a team member.[6]
