Final Impact (Hamilton)

Final Impact, informally referred to as Hugo's, was an indoor paintball venue in Hamilton, New Zealand, associated with Hugo Kappes. A 2004 field review located it at 46 Northway Street, Te Rapa, and identified Hugo as its operator. It subsequently appeared in NZPaintball's Hamilton field directory and was advertised as the location of a professional training clinic in November 2007.[1][2][4][5]

Company

Final Impact Limited was incorporated on 28 August 2003 under company number 1386200 and NZBN 9429035796305. The Companies Register lists Hugo Rowland Kappes as director and 618 Te Rapa Road, Hamilton, as its registered office. The company's status is recorded as removed.[3]

History

2004 field review

Paul “Spider” McKay reviewed Final Impact for NZ Paintball Online in 2004. He identified the playing venue as 46 Northway Street, Te Rapa, Hamilton, and named Hugo as the operator.[5]

McKay described an indoor playing area with sawdust covering a concrete floor and movable barricades. Facilities included a lit communal area with seating, toilets, a developing shop area and an upstairs observation area screened with netting.[5]

Players passed through a shipping container between the communal area and the playing area. The container housed the rental equipment, which included Spyder markers and thermal masks. The review stated that the venue catered for groups of one to twelve players.[5]

Field directory

NZPaintball's Hamilton field-directory thread listed Final Impact as a local paintball venue. The thread was created on 11 June 2005, and the surviving listing carries a moderator edit dated 14 May 2006. It lists Final Impact separately from Paintball Hamilton.[4]

Training

In November 2007, a forum discussion about professional training clinics advertised a Hamilton session for Monday 12 November, starting at 6 pm at “Hugos”. The discussion concerned the New Zealand visit of Brandon Short and Alexander Savino.[1] The venue has subsequently been identified as Final Impact.[2]
