Kyn Jackson
Kyn Allan Jackson, also known as Kyn “Action” Jackson, is a New Zealand paintball field operator, tournament organiser and player associated with Actions Paintball and Saints. He was also involved in administering the original National Paintball League following its reorganisation in 1999.[1][2]
Paintball involvement
Early participation
Jackson's contemporary New Zealand Paintball profile, preserved in February 1998, records approximately twelve to thirteen years of involvement in the sport. He recalled discovering paintball through a social game with friends.[1]
Actions Paintball
The profile identifies Jackson as the operator of Actions Paintball in Auckland. He described maintaining the field to a high standard as his principal paintball achievement.[1]
The website's contemporary field directory also named Jackson as an Actions Paintball Sports Arena contact. It described a bush field with VM-68 rental markers.[3]
Saints
Jackson's player profile identifies him as a Team Saints member. The field directory likewise identifies him as a Saints member in a photograph caption accompanying the Actions Paintball listing.[1][3]
Tournament organisation
National Paintball League
Actions Paintball Sports Arena was one of the commercial operators participating in the National Paintball League when it began in 1997.[2]
According to Mercenaries Star's historical account, Jackson assumed responsibility for the league's remaining administration after it lost field-operator support in 1999. He discontinued Second Division, while the established tournaments grouped under First Division continued.[2]
APSA's Mayhem
Mercenaries Star's tournament calendar attributed APSA's Mayhem's change from five-player to seven-player competition to Jackson's plans to bring New Zealand tournament paintball closer to international formats.[4]
Rotorua Invitational
A contemporary announcement by Russell “Dangermouse” Clement records that members of Tag n' Release had asked Jackson to manage a planned Rotorua Invitational tournament on the day, allowing them to compete.[5]
The announcement distinguishes Jackson's proposed management role from the planning undertaken by Tag n' Release members.[5]
Equipment and views
Jackson identified the Automag as his preferred marker in his contemporary player profile. He advocated more international and inter-city paintball competitions.[1]
