The 1994 Northwest Police-Firefighters Olympic Games paintball tournament was a five-player paintball competition held at Hit & Run Paint War Games in Scappoose, Oregon, during the 17th annual Northwest Police-Firefighters Olympic Games. Seven teams representing police, correctional and fire services from the United States and Canada entered the tournament.[1]

The Chico Fire Department of California won the gold medal after completing the tournament without losing a game.[1]

Organisation

The tournament formed part of the Northwest Police-Fire Athletic Federation's annual summer games. The wider event brought together personnel from law-enforcement agencies and fire departments for sporting competition intended to promote physical fitness and camaraderie.[1]

David A. Kramer, a firefighter and paintball player, coordinated the paintball tournament. It was held at Hit & Run Paint War Games in Scappoose, Oregon.[1]

Teams

The seven participating teams were:

  • Washougal Police Department, Washington
  • Spokane Corrections, Washington
  • Blaine Fire Department, Washington
  • Bio-Hazard, representing the Clark County Fire Department, Washington
  • Kent Corrections, Canada
  • Chico Fire Department, California
  • Fire Recon, representing the Gresham Fire Department, Oregon

Format

A guided inspection of the playing field and a mandatory captains' meeting were held before play. Markers were chronographed to a maximum velocity of 290 feet per second.[1]

Each five-player team competed in at least seven capture-the-flag games. Games had a 15-minute time limit, and each player was restricted to 100 paintballs per game. To win, a team had to capture its opponent's flag and return it to its own flag station.[1]

The tournament did not use a points system. Placings were determined by the number of games won, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to every member of the first-, second- and third-placed teams.[1]

Results

Medal Team Representation Record
Gold Chico Fire Department California Undefeated
Silver Fire Recon Gresham Fire Department, Oregon Six wins from seven games
Bronze Spokane Corrections Washington Five wins from seven games

Dale Dean of the Chico Fire Department received the tournament's sportsmanship award.[1]
