1987 Mohican Outdoor Adventure Paintball Championship
The 1987 Mohican Outdoor Adventure Paintball Championship was a paintball tournament held at Mohican Outdoor Adventure in Loudonville, Ohio, United States, on 22–23 August 1987. It was the competition's second edition and awarded the State of Ohio Cup.[1]
The Headhunters won with 916 points from eight games, followed by Crow Warriors with 711 and Iron Cross with 579.[1]
Venue and organisation
Mohican Outdoor Adventure occupied approximately 150 acres of woodland with steep hills, gullies and dense vegetation. Three fields of approximately 25 acres each were prepared for tournament play.[1]
The Mohican Mad Dogs, a team from Loudonville, officiated the competition.[1]
Format and equipment
The tournament used National Survival Game rules. Each team played eight games, with the championship determined by accumulated points.[1]
Equipment was restricted to .68-calibre paintball pistols using standard carbon-dioxide cartridges and firing below 325 feet per second.[1]
Heavy rain affected Saturday's games, reducing visibility, although the tournament remained on schedule.[1]
Competition
The Headhunters, identified in the contemporary report as the reigning 1986 National Survival Game champions, lost only one game. Crow Warriors defeated them 15–9 in their first meeting.[1]
The Headhunters won the return game 145–12 after advancing along both flanks and capturing Crow Warriors' flag.[1]
Crow Warriors won six of their eight games. Their defeats came against Ball Busters and the Headhunters. Iron Cross finished with four wins and four defeats.[1]
