Welcome to WikiPaintball

WikiPaintball is an independent, collaborative encyclopedia dedicated to preserving the history of paintball around the world.

From the earliest games and equipment manufacturers to the teams, tournaments, playing fields, organisations and people who helped shape the sport, WikiPaintball aims to document paintball's history before more of it disappears.

Why WikiPaintball Exists

Paintball has a rich history, but much of it has never been properly documented.

Over the decades, countless websites have disappeared, online forums have shut down, magazines have gone out of print, and businesses have closed. Social media pages are deleted, photographs are lost, and the people who helped build the sport are getting older or passing away.

With every lost website, forgotten tournament result or untold story, another small piece of paintball history disappears.

WikiPaintball exists to preserve those stories and make them accessible to future generations.

This includes the history of professional tournaments and famous teams, but also the local playing fields, amateur leagues, independent manufacturers, community organisers and everyday players who made paintball what it is.

We believe that all of these stories are worth preserving.

From New Zealand and Malta to the World

WikiPaintball is beginning with the history of New Zealand and Malta, two countries where the project's founder has personal experience and connections within the paintball community.

These are simply the starting points.

The long-term goal is to document paintball history internationally, including the development of the sport in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and beyond.

As more people contribute, WikiPaintball will grow into a broader international resource.

Help Preserve Paintball History

Were you there? Do you remember something we've missed?

Paintball history isn't just found in official records. It's in old tournament programmes, team photographs, magazines, newspaper clippings, field advertisements, personal recollections and boxes of forgotten memorabilia.

We're particularly interested in:

  • Old photographs, videos and tournament footage
  • Tournament results, team rosters and event programmes
  • Stories about former teams, fields and leagues
  • Historical magazines, newspaper articles and advertisements
  • Information about early equipment and manufacturers
  • Personal recollections from players, organisers and industry figures

Even a small detail can help complete a much larger story.

WikiPaintball aims to distinguish between documented facts, historical recollections and information that still needs verification. Sources and original material are particularly valuable.

If you have information to share, corrections to suggest or historical material worth preserving, we encourage you to get involved.

About the Project

WikiPaintball is an independent historical preservation project, not an official governing body or commercial paintball organisation.

Its purpose is to collect, organise and preserve information about the sport and the people who contributed to it.

The encyclopedia is a work in progress. Some subjects are already well documented, while others are only beginning to be researched.

Paintball's history belongs to the people who made it. Let's make sure it isn't forgotten.
