Malaysia Paintball Association (MPA) is a name that may refer to a Malaysian paintball organisation. Its use as the formal registered name of a distinct national governing body has not been independently established. The name should not automatically be treated as synonymous with the Malaysia Paintball Federation (MPF/MPBF), the proposed national federation documented in 2010. == Historical background == During the 2000s, Malaysian paintball developed through commercial fields, tournament organisers, competitive clubs and state-level associations. By February 2010, representatives of these organisations were discussing the creation of a national federation. A public hearing concerning the formation of Persatuan Paintball Malaysia, described in English by its organisers as the Malaysia Paintball Federation, was announced for 25 February 2010.[1] The hearing involved representatives of state paintball associations, tournament organisers, referees, equipment vendors and field operators. == Malaysia Paintball Federation == The proposed Malaysia Paintball Federation sought to establish a representative national structure for Malaysian paintball. Its organisers published a proposed constitution, committee structure and timetable for elections. The public hearing resulted in the announcement of a provisional steering committee. Tuan Haji Amirul was named provisional president, with Paul WY Lam as deputy president.[2] The proposal also involved representatives from several state paintball associations. These included Johor, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Sabah, Sarawak and Kedah. The available documentation does not establish that this federation was registered under the separate English name Malaysia Paintball Association. == Distinction from other organisations == Several organisations have participated in the development of paintball in Malaysia. These include: * Malaysia Paintball Federation * Malaysian Paintball Referee Organisation * Malaysian National Paintball League * Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit * Paintball Asia League Series * State and regional paintball associations These organisations had different functions, including representation, officiating and tournament promotion. They should not be treated as a single governing body without documentary evidence. == Research status == Further research is required to determine whether Malaysia Paintball Association was: * A formally registered organisation with that English name * An alternative translation of an existing Malaysian association * An informal name used for a state or national paintball body * A name appearing only in secondary references A registration certificate, official constitution, government sports-body register or contemporary announcement identifying the organisation would help establish its history. Until such evidence is available, its founding date, leadership, legal status and relationship to other paintball bodies remain unverified. == See also == * Paintball in Malaysia * Malaysia Paintball Federation * Malaysian Paintball Referee Organisation * Malaysian National Paintball League * Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit * Paintball Asia League Series == References == # "Persatuan Paintball Malaysia: February 2010", contemporary announcements concerning the public hearing and proposed national federation. # "Results After the Public Hearing β The Current Pro-tem Committee", Persatuan Paintball Malaysia, 27 February 2010.
