Kevin Wong, nicknamed Kevo, is a Malaysian paintball player, team captain and paintball industry professional. He is known for captaining Xtioneers II to the Division 2 championship at the 2010 Paintball Asia League Series (PALS) Philippines event and for his involvement with Malaysian paintball equipment supplier and event organiser Napshot Avenue. Wong was involved in competitive paintball and the Malaysian paintball industry during the late 2000s and early 2010s. In March 2011, he was identified as a general manager associated with Napshot's Energizer Night Strike paintball event.[1] {| class="wikitable" |+ Kevin Wong |- ! Full name | Kevin Wong |- ! His early playing history, first team and date of entry into competitive paintball have not yet been established. By 2010, Wong was a member and captain of Xtioneers II, a Malaysian tournament paintball team associated with the Xtioneers organisation. === Xtioneers II === Xtioneers operated multiple competitive squads during the 2010 season. The main squad competed in Division 1, while Xtioneers II participated in Division 2 of the Paintball Asia League Series. Wong served as captain of Xtioneers II during its participation in the 2010 PALS Philippines tournament.[2] The team was managed by Raja Anor Shah. === 2010 PALS Philippines championship === The 2010 United Paintballers of the Philippines International Championships took place on 21β22 August at Clark Field in the Philippines. The event formed the second leg of the 2010 Paintball Asia League Series. Xtioneers II entered the Division 2 competition under Wong's captaincy. The team won five of its six preliminary matches and advanced to the elimination rounds. In the semifinals, Xtioneers II defeated fellow Malaysian team Sarawak Waxers. The final was contested against Global Pinoy 1 of the Philippines. Xtioneers II won the championship match 2β0, securing the Division 2 title.[2] According to The Star, the victory made Xtioneers II the first Malaysian team to win a PALS Division 2 tournament outside Malaysia. The championship was an important achievement for the team's competitive development and its participation in international tournament paintball. === Team roster === The following players were identified as members of the championship-winning Xtioneers II squad in contemporary reporting. {| class="wikitable" ! Player ! Role |- | Kevin Wong | Captain |- | Boone Ng | Player |- | Raja Anor Shah | Player and team manager |- | Khoo Kah Wei | Player |- | Zoltan Gucsa | Player |- | Tan Jon Yang | Player |- | Amos Lee | Player |} The roster was published by The Star on 14 September 2010.[2] == Paintball industry career == === Napshot Avenue === Kevin Wong was involved with Napshot Avenue, a Malaysian paintball equipment supplier, retailer and event organiser established in 2007. Napshot Avenue was founded by Nicholas Wong Yew Khid, who was also involved in the development of competitive paintball in Malaysia.[3] The business supplied paintball equipment and supported Malaysian tournaments and teams. A December 2010 acknowledgement published by Malaysian tournament team MacDev Ronin identified "Paul, Nicholas & Kevin" among its contacts at Napshot.[4] This provides contemporary evidence of Wong's association with the business during the same period as his competitive playing career. === Energizer Night Strike === In March 2011, Kevin Wong was identified as a general manager associated with Napshot's Energizer Night Strike paintball event.[1] The event was organised as a recreational paintball competition using a night-time playing format. It formed part of Napshot's activities promoting paintball participation beyond conventional tournament competition. Wong's involvement demonstrates his participation in the operational and commercial side of Malaysian paintball, alongside his role as a tournament player. === Other activities === Wong's full responsibilities at Napshot Avenue have not yet been documented. His involvement in equipment distribution, retail operations, sponsorship and other tournament events requires further verification. The duration of his employment or management role at Napshot has also not been established. == Family == Kevin Wong's brother, Nicholas Wong Yew Khid, was also involved in the Malaysian paintball industry. Nicholas founded Napshot Avenue in 2007 and participated in paintball business operations, tournament organisation and sporting administration.[3] Both names appear in contemporary references to Napshot during 2010. The sibling relationship has been reported through firsthand historical testimony but has not yet been independently established in published sources. == Tournament results == {| class="wikitable" ! Year ! Tournament ! Team ! Division ! Result |- | 2010 | United Paintballers of the Philippines International Championships / PALS Leg 2 | Xtioneers II | Division 2 X-Ball | Champion |} == Historical significance == Kevin Wong was active in both competitive and commercial paintball during a period of growth in the Malaysian paintball industry. His captaincy of Xtioneers II contributed to a documented international championship victory for a Malaysian Division 2 team in 2010. His subsequent documented involvement with Napshot Avenue and the Energizer Night Strike event illustrates the overlap between tournament players, equipment businesses and event organisers in Malaysia during the early 2010s. == See also == * Xtioneers * Xtioneers II * Napshot Avenue * Nicholas Wong Yew Khid * Paintball Asia League Series * Paintball in Malaysia * Paintball in Asia * Sarawak Waxers == References == # "Edisi Nasional", March 2011.
