Fédération Belge de Paintball (FBP) was a Belgian paintball federation established as a non-profit association on 22 February 2012. Based in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium, it was affiliated with the European Paintball Federation (EPBF) and was involved in national competition and the representation of Belgian players in international tournaments.[1][2] The federation was led by president Christophe Meert. By 2018, the EPBF had described the organisation as no longer functioning. Its legal liquidation was completed on 24 June 2024.[1][3] == History == === Establishment === The Fédération Belge de Paintball was registered as a Belgian non-profit association (association sans but lucratif, or ASBL) on 22 February 2012, under enterprise number 0844.364.115.[1] Its registered address was at Chaussée de Mont-Saint-Jean 83, Braine-l'Alleud. The founding administrators recorded in Belgian company registers were Christophe Meert, Adrien Meert and Elivane Lopes Lima. Christophe Meert was also responsible for the association's daily management.[1] Contemporary Belgian reporting in 2015 described the federation's origins as dating to 2011, although the confirmed legal registration occurred in 2012.[4] === European Paintball Federation membership === The FBP became a member of the European Paintball Federation, representing Belgium within the European organisation. In its 2015 organisational presentation, the EPBF identified Christophe Meert as president of the Belgian federation.[2] The presentation recorded one affiliated association or club and 18 registered players. The federation's official website was listed as federationbelgedepaintball.com. === National competition and international representation === The FBP was associated with the organisation of competitive paintball in Belgium, including national championships using three-player and five-player team formats. An October 2015 report by Belgian sports programme Inside Sport described the federation as organising national competition and supporting Belgium's international paintball team.[4] In an interview published on 16 October 2015, Belgian player Claudio Schoonbroodt stated that the federation was responsible for national team selection and was funding travel and accommodation for players attending an international World Cup competition in Malaysia.[5] Schoonbroodt also described Belgian national team participation across men's, under-19, women's and veterans' categories. The EPBF's 2015 presentation identified the Belgian Championship, Brainball Cup and Belgium Open among competitions associated with Belgian paintball.[2] === Decline in activity === By February 2018, the FBP was no longer functioning as an active national federation, according to official EPBF meeting records.[3] At the EPBF Congress held in Barcelona on 1 February 2018, secretary Viktoriya Sarantseva reported that Belgian paintball club P8, working with a local tournament league, had requested affiliation with the EPBF. The request sought to take over Belgian membership from the existing, non-functioning Fédération Belge de Paintball.[3] The available meeting records do not establish whether the proposed membership transfer was subsequently completed. === Liquidation === Belgian company records identify Christophe Meert as the association's liquidator from 1 September 2020.[1] The registered association subsequently completed its liquidation on 24 June 2024, when its legal status was recorded as closed. The closure of the registered association was distinct from the earlier cessation of its active federation functions, which the EPBF had already documented in 2018.[1][3] == See also == * European Paintball Federation * United Paintball Federation * Millennium Series == References == # Fédération Belge de Paintball, enterprise number 0844.364.115.
