Davey Williamson is an American former professional paintball player known for his involvement with IronKids, the Los Angeles Ironmen, Miami Effect, Sacramento XSV and San Diego Dynasty. He competed in major American tournament leagues during the late 1990s and 2000s, winning multiple professional tournaments and championships.[1] Williamson was inducted into the Iconic Paintball Hall of Icons in 2026 as a member of its Golden Era class.[2] == Playing career == === IronKids and Ironmen === Williamson was associated with IronKids, the California tournament team that brought together several players who subsequently established San Diego Dynasty. The team included future professional players such as Ryan Greenspan, Alex Fraige, Oliver Lang and Yosh Rau. According to a 2021 historical profile published by Iconic Paintball, Williamson was one of the older members of the group and played a leadership role during its development.[1] Williamson subsequently competed for the Los Angeles Ironmen. The 2001 National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) professional roster lists him with the Ironmen, alongside Rich Telford, Matty Marshall, Micah McGlocklin, Oliver Lang, Yosh Rau and other established players.[3] === Miami Effect === Williamson joined Miami Effect for the inaugural season of the original National Xball League (NXL) in 2003. The team was one of eight professional franchises competing in the new X-Ball format. A contemporary roster published by WARPIG for the February 2003 Mardi Gras Open lists Williamson wearing number 03. His teammates included Chris LaSoya, Jon Richardson, Brian Fow, Rusty Glaze, Travis Lemanski and Adam Johnson.[4] === Sacramento XSV === Williamson subsequently joined Sacramento XSV, also known as Excessive, a professional tournament team established in 2004. He was part of the team's roster during its rise to prominence in 2005 and 2006. XSV became one of the principal competitors of San Diego Dynasty, winning major professional events in both the NPPL Super 7 World Series and Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP).[1] Williamson was listed on XSV's professional roster at the 2006 Southern Paintball Championships, wearing jersey number 3. Other members included Nicky Cuba, Jon Richardson, Nicky Vegas, Thomas Taylor, Scott Kemp, Carl Markowski and Neil Eberle.[5] His period with XSV was documented in Heroes for a Day: The XSV Story, a documentary directed by Patrick Spohrer and released in 2007.[6] === San Diego Dynasty === During the 2006 season, Williamson moved from XSV to San Diego Dynasty. A professional roster announcement published in October 2006 listed him with Dynasty for the NPPL Commander's Cup in Costa Mesa, California. The team included Ryan Greenspan, Alex Fraige, Yosh Rau, Brian Cole, Angel Fragoza, Todd Martinez and other established players.[7] Dynasty won the 2006 Commander's Cup and the overall NPPL professional season championship. The team defeated XSV in the semi-finals before defeating Stockholm Joy Division in the final.[8] Williamson continued competing with Dynasty during subsequent seasons. His involvement with the team included professional tournament appearances and international promotional activities. == Paintball industry involvement == Williamson also worked in the paintball equipment industry. He was associated with DYE Precision for an extended period during his professional playing career. In a December 2022 interview with Paintball Nerd, Williamson discussed his employment with DYE, his professional team changes and the relationship between his playing career and work in the paintball industry.[9] == Media appearances == Williamson appeared in several paintball video productions during his professional career. He was featured in Cereal Killerz, a 2004 documentary produced by Monkey With a Gun Productions that profiled professional paintball players. He also appeared in Heroes for a Day: The XSV Story, which documented XSV's development and professional tournament campaigns.[6] On 7 December 2022, Paintball Nerd published a video interview with Williamson discussing his playing history, former teammates and work within the industry.[9] == Recognition == In September 2021, Iconic Paintball included Williamson in its retrospective list of the 50 greatest professional paintball players. The publication highlighted his involvement with IronKids, the Ironmen, XSV and Dynasty, as well as his ability to play multiple positions.[1] Williamson was subsequently inducted into the Paintball Hall of Icons as part of its 2026 class. He was recognised in the Golden Era category, covering players associated with the expansion of professional tournament paintball during the 2000s.[2] The induction was also documented by Paintball Media Magazine in its April 2026 edition.[10] == See also == * IronKids * Los Angeles Ironmen * Miami Effect * Sacramento XSV * San Diego Dynasty * Heroes for a Day: The XSV Story * Iconic Paintball Hall of Icons == References == # [https://www.iconicpaintball.com/history/the-50-greatest-paintball-players-of-all-time Iconic Paintball, "50 Greatest Paintball Players of All-Time", September 2021.
