{{Short description|New Zealand tournament paintball team}} '''Crossfire''' was a New Zealand competitive [[paintball]] team associated with Palmerston North. Contemporary records also used the styling '''Cross Fire''' and documented the squads '''Cross Fire Blue''', '''Cross Fire Grey''', '''Crossfire GBH''' and '''Crossfire BG'''.[1][2][3] A former participant has confirmed that these entries belonged to the same organisation. The meanings of the initials GBH and BG have not been established. == History == === 2000 season === Crossfire competed at the Hawke's Bay Triples in February 2000. The three-player tournament was held at the Pines field on State Highway 50 at Roy's Hill, Hawke's Bay.[1] The published results identified Crossfire as a Palmerston North team and placed it tenth among eleven entries. The source does not provide a score.[1] The 2000 [[Valhalla National Rankings]] placed Crossfire thirty-fourth among 37 published team and squad entries, with a ranking score of 21.[4] === 2001 squads === Crossfire fielded two three-player squads at the 2001 Hawke's Bay Triples. The October 2001 Valhalla table recorded them as '''Crossfire GBH''' and '''Crossfire BG'''.[3] Crossfire GBH ranked fourteenth in the published three-player standings with 52.1 ranking points. Crossfire BG ranked seventeenth with 43 points. Both totals were attributed to the Hawke's Bay Triples.[3] The organisation also entered two five-player squads at the Wellington Cup at Thunderball Adventure Games during August 2001.[2] '''Cross Fire (Blue)''' finished eighth among ten entries with 320 tournament points. '''Cross Fire (Grey)''' finished tenth with 135 points.[2] In the October 2001 Valhalla five-player standings, Crossfire Blue ranked tenth with 45.7 ranking points and Crossfire Grey ranked fifteenth with 19.3.[3] == Team identity == The spacing and squad labels are retained as printed by the contemporary sources. Crossfire, Cross Fire Blue, Cross Fire Grey, Crossfire GBH and Crossfire BG have been identified by a former participant as entries from the same Palmerston North organisation. The tournament team was unrelated to '''Crossfire: Southland''', a historical field or business name associated with Southern Paintball Sports in Invercargill.[5] == Tournament results == {| class="wikitable sortable" !
