Editing 2022 WCPL Gateway Open

The 2022 WCPL Gateway Open, also advertised as the Gateway Classic, was a paintball tournament held on 15–16 October 2022 at Gateway Paintball Park in Bridgeton, Missouri. It concluded the World Classic Paintball League's published 2022 United States event calendar.[1][2]

Phenoms won the 16-team open ten-player competition, followed by Team Farside and Lockout. Master Blasters finished ninth at the event and first in the final ten-player season standings.[3][4]

Title and venue
PBLeagues records the tournament as the Gateway Open, while the WCPL's published calendar used Gateway Classic for the same dates and venue.[1][2]

Gateway Paintball Park was listed at 14510 Missouri Bottom Road, Bridgeton, Missouri.[1][2]

Format
The event registration category was Open 10-man (Sat–Sun). PBLeagues specified a 10v10 format with 12-minute games, and recorded 16 registered and paid teams.[1]

The final results contain one division, Open 10v10, with all 16 teams receiving placings.[3]

The five-player season table contains results from the 2022 WCPL ICC/Montressor Classic only. Its first-place team, Albany Power Surge Black, should therefore be distinguished from the Gateway event winner and from the winner of the multi-event ten-player series.[4]

No five-player competition is listed in the Gateway final results.[3]

Calendar position
The Gateway Open followed the 2022 WCPL ICC/Montressor Classic, held in July in Clintondale, New York, and was the final United States event listed in the WCPL's 2022 records.[1][4]
