The 2018 NXL World Cup was a National Xball League (NXL) paintball tournament held from 8 to 11 November 2018 in Kissimmee, Florida, United States. It concluded the league's five-event United States national season.[1] Houston Heat defeated Moscow Red Legion 5β4 in the professional final. Heat also won the professional season championship, finishing with 873 points, two ahead of Edmonton Impact.[2][3] == Dates and venue == Competition took place from Thursday, 8 November, to Sunday, 11 November 2018 at 6000 West Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, Florida.[1] == Competition formats == Professional X-Ball used 15-minute games with a six-point mercy rule. Semi-Pro and Division 2 used 15-minute games with a five-point mercy rule. Divisions 3 and 4 used 12-minute games with a four-point mercy rule.[1] Traditional five-player competition was offered in Divisions 3, 4 and 5. Other formats included Open Pump five-player, Open and Amateur ten-player, Open and Amateur three-player, and Mounds five-player and ten-player competitions.[1][4] Separate championship divisions were held for Division 3 X-Ball, Division 4 X-Ball and Division 4/5 five-player RaceTo-2. These appear as NAC competitions in the official scores and were distinct from the corresponding open-entry divisions.[1][5] == Professional competition == Houston Heat won three of its four preliminary matches, defeating Sacramento DMG, Scottsdale Elevation and Chicago Aftershock, while losing 6β5 to San Antonio X-Factor.[2] Heat then won four consecutive elimination matches. The team defeated Los Angeles Infamous 5β4 in the opening knockout round, Los Angeles Ironmen 3β2 in the quarter-finals and ac Dallas 6β3 in the semi-finals.[2] In the final, Heat defeated Moscow Red Legion 5β4 to win World Cup and secure the professional season title.[2][3] {| class="wikitable" ! Event victories and season championships were separate honours.[3] Houston Heat finished first in the professional standings with 873 points, ahead of Edmonton Impact on 871. Semi-Pro was also closely contested: San Diego Aftermath finished with 473.08 points, ahead of World Cup winners Indianapolis Mutiny on 472.59.[3] The final standings list the following leaders in divisions contested at multiple national events:[3] {| class="wikitable" ! SOS won World Cup, while LA Hitmen.com won the Las Vegas Open.[3] The Mounds and NAC championship divisions appear with World Cup as their only event in the published national standings. Their results should therefore be distinguished from titles accumulated across several national rounds.[3] == See also == * National Xball League * 2018 NXL Chicago Open * 2017 NXL World Cup * Houston Heat == References == # PBLeagues β World Cup: official event information, dates, Kissimmee venue and competition formats, 8β11 November 2018. # PBLeagues β Houston Heat: official 2018 World Cup match schedule and scores. # PBLeagues β 2018 National XBall League season rankings: final standings and individual event placings. # PBLeagues β World Cup: official final divisional and side-event placings. # PBLeagues β NXL World Cup 2018: official scores, including the separately recorded NAC championship competitions.
