Editing 2016 Sicilian Paintball Cup

The '''Sicilian Paintball Cup''', also advertised as the '''Sicilian's Paintball Cup''', was a paintball event in Sicily, Italy, documented in May 2016. Promoted by the Sicilian Paintball League, it combined speedball and woodsball in an advertised two-day programme. [1]

A retrospective account published by [[Malta Paintball]] identifies [[Southclan (Malta Paintball Team)|Southclan]] among the participating teams. Contemporary videos published by Paintball Licata separately document the event. [2][3]

The original Facebook event listing named Paintball Siracusa LoSpazio and Paintball Sicilia League among its hosts. It described a combined speedball and woodsball tournament lasting two days. [1]

According to Malta Paintball's subsequent account, the programme included three-player speedball at LoSpazio Siracusa and a woodsball stage advertised for Palazzolo Acreide. The account also describes separate categories for mechanical and electronic markers and the availability of rental equipment. These were advertised arrangements rather than a complete record of the matches played. [2]

== Maltese participation ==

Malta Paintball's retrospective account states that Southclan travelled to Sicily for the competition in May 2016. It identifies Chris Cioffi, Jesmond Cioffi and Albert Vella among the Maltese squad. The account does not provide the team's final placing. [2]

A separate Malta Paintball post published on 12 October 2026 describes the visit to Siracusa as Southclan's first overseas tournament and again identifies those three players. This is a retrospective description of the team's participation. [4]

== Contemporary video records ==

Paintball Licata published several videos carrying the event name and the date 29 May 2016. These include ''Sicilian's Paintball Cup 29-05-2016 – Woodsball Splash!'', uploaded on 30 May 2016. [3]

The video metadata provides a contemporary event record but does not supply complete standings or independently identify Southclan's players. [3]
