The 2003 PSP Philadelphia Open, also called the Philly Open, was a paintball tournament held from 13 to 17 August 2003 at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It was the fourth event of the Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP) championship series and featured five-player, ten-player and divisional X-Ball competition alongside National Xball League (NXL) matches.[1][2] == Venue == Playing fields and a trade show were established around Memorial Hall and its fountain. Three fields accommodated five-player and ten-player competition, while three others hosted divisional X-Ball and NXL matches. Surrounding streets were closed to traffic.[1] == Five-player competition == Both divisions used eight-game preliminary rounds, followed by eight-team semi-finals and four-team finals. The following totals are final-round points.[3] {| class="wikitable" ! Division !! Position !! Team !! Final-round points |- | rowspan="4" | Novice | 1 || Doc's Raiders Black || 294 |- | 2* || Cross || 138 |- | 3 || Twisted Factory || 122 |- | 4 || Reflex || 20 |- | rowspan="4" | Rookie | 1 || Untouchable Kidz || 214 |- | 2 || Ultimate || 148 |- | 3 || Flash || 108 |- | 4 || Rush || 32 |} * Cross was listed second on the final scoreboard. After the competition, the team was found to have fielded a player who was not registered on its roster. WARPIG recorded that all of Cross's points were disqualified and would not count towards the series rankings.[3] Doc's Raiders Black led the Novice preliminary round with 768 points and the semi-finals with 232. Untouchable Kidz recovered from losing its opening final-round game to win the remaining two games and the Rookie title.[3] == Ten-player competition == The ten-player tournament included Amateur, Novice and Rookie divisions. The following totals are final-round points.[4] {| class="wikitable" ! Division !! Position !! Team !! Final-round points |- | rowspan="4" | Amateur | 1 || Cartel || 232 |- | 2 || ECX Factory || 211 |- | 3 || Static || 110 |- | 4 || Shockwave Canada || 26 |- | rowspan="4" | Novice | 1 || Momma's Boys || 206 |- | 2 || Justice || 200 |- | 3 || Outcast || 112 |- | 4 || Havok || 107 |- | rowspan="4" | Rookie | 1 || Rock It Kids || 206 |- | 2 || Precision || 203 |- | 3 || Outlaws || 196 |- | 4 || Misfit Toys || 26 |} Cartel won two final-round games after opening with 41 points. Momma's Boys finished six points ahead of Justice, while Rock It Kids finished three points ahead of Precision.[4] == Divisional X-Ball == === Division 1 === Strange won the championship match against Naughty Dogs 6β5. Naughty Dogs had reached the final by defeating Shocktech 10β2; Shocktech had previously eliminated All Americans 5β3.[5] {| class="wikitable" ! Position !! Team |- | 1 || Strange |- | 2 || Naughty Dogs |- | 3 || Shocktech |- | 4 || All Americans |} === Division 2 === Total Eclipse recovered from a 6β5 defeat against Mayhem earlier in the tournament to reach the final. Its subsequent wins included 10β5 against Twisted Factory and 10β4 against Mayhem. Total Eclipse defeated Ground Zero Silver 9β4 in the championship match.[5] {| class="wikitable" ! Position !! Team |- | 1 || Total Eclipse |- | 2 || Ground Zero Silver |- | 3 || Mayhem |} == National Xball League == NXL matches contributed towards qualification and seeding for the season's World Cup play-offs. At a Thursday press conference, the league outlined its play-off arrangements and announced an agreement with Dick Clark Productions for television production and representation rights.[1] Selected results from Sunday, 17 August, were:[1] {| class="wikitable" !
