== WGP Sniper == === Development === Orr developed the original '''[[WGP Sniper|Sniper]]''' pump-action marker around late 1986 or early 1987.[2] The design used an aluminium body incorporating mechanical principles and components associated with Sheridan paintball markers. The Sniper offered a purpose-built alternative to the modified paintball markers commonly used during the early years of the sport. Its features included a removable barrel and a mechanically operated pump mechanism. The marker became the foundation for Orr's subsequent Autococker design. === Sniper I === The original Sniper, retrospectively known as the '''Sniper I''', was produced during the late 1980s. Historical research identifies differences between early and later examples, including changes to the feedneck and body construction.[2] The original Sniper was produced in relatively limited numbers compared with later WGP markers. Surviving examples have become collectible items among vintage paintball enthusiasts. === Sniper II === WGP subsequently introduced the '''Sniper II'''. An April 1990 issue of ''Paintball Sports International'' included a contemporary new-product feature describing the marker.[3] This establishes that the Sniper II had been introduced by April 1990, with historical research suggesting availability during late 1989. The Sniper II incorporated several changes from the original design. These included: * An extruded aluminium body * An integrated sight rail * A quick-disconnect bolt * Changes to the grip frame * Revised component arrangements Transitional markers incorporating parts from both generations are sometimes described by collectors as '''Sniper 1.5''' models.
