Editing Paintball World Cup (section)

=== PSP era ===

During the early 2000s, disagreements between the NPPL and its tournament promoters resulted in the formation of an independent competition circuit operated by Paintball Sports Promotions.

The Paintball World Cup remained with PSP following the separation of the organisations.

In 2002, the tournament included an exhibition involving the newly developed [[X-Ball]] format at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Florida.[10]

The exhibition helped establish the venue's suitability for a larger paintball competition.

In 2003, the World Cup moved to Disney's Wide World of Sports, where PSP organised five-player, 10-player and divisional X-Ball tournaments alongside the professional [[National Xball League]] championship.[11]

The event marked an important stage in the adoption of X-Ball as a principal professional tournament format.

The World Cup continued at the Disney venue through 2008.

In 2009, PSP moved the tournament to the Fantasy of Flight aviation museum property in Polk City, Florida.[12]

The event continued to feature professional and divisional X-Ball competition, alongside other formats including five-player tournaments and masters divisions.

PSP organised its final World Cup in 2014 before suspending its national tournament programme in 2015.
