== Playing fields == === Field environments === Giant Paintball Alpine operated several themed recreational playing environments. A historical customer account identifies five fields: * Urban * Castle * Western * Spools * Grove The fields incorporated constructed obstacles, natural terrain and themed structures.[2] The variety of environments allowed recreational groups to play different styles of games during a single visit. === Urban === The Urban field used constructed obstacles intended to simulate a built environment. Urban-style paintball fields generally feature buildings, walls and other forms of hard cover. The field provided a different playing experience from woodland and natural-terrain games. The exact layout and dimensions of the historical Urban field have not been established. === Castle === The Castle field was one of the park's distinctive recreational environments. Historical customer accounts describe a large castle structure incorporated into the playing area.[2] The environment was suited to attack-and-defend games and other objective-based recreational formats. The castle was also used as a prominent feature in the park's marketing. === Western === The Western field incorporated structures resembling a frontier or western town. Historical descriptions refer to a cowboy-themed playing environment.[2] The layout provided constructed cover and opportunities for close-range recreational gameplay. The use of themed buildings was consistent with the wider Giant Sportz network's approach to recreational field design. === Spools === The Spools field used artificial obstacles, including large industrial-style spools. Spool fields were common at commercial paintball venues during the 1990s and 2000s. They provided durable obstacles and relatively open lines of sight. The precise historical layout at Giant Paintball Alpine has not been documented. === Grove === The Grove field incorporated natural vegetation and terrain. This environment provided a more traditional recreational paintball experience than the park's constructed fields. Natural cover and changes in terrain influenced player movement and concealment.
