== Event format == Oklahoma D-Day recreated military engagements associated with the 1944 Normandy invasion, with players divided primarily between Allied and German forces. Participants joined organised units modelled on historical military formations. Each side operated under an established command structure, with commanders coordinating objectives and battlefield movements. The playing area included recreated beaches, defensive positions, trenches, bunkers and fortified villages. Named battlefield locations included Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Sword Beach and Colleville.[3][4] Gameplay focused on completing military-style objectives rather than simply eliminating opposing players. Eliminated participants could return to the battle through designated reinsertion areas, allowing the main game to continue over several hours.[4] One of the event's distinguishing features was its use of purpose-built paintball tanks and military vehicles. Simulated amphibious landings, coordinated infantry assaults and vehicle engagements contributed to the large-scale battlefield experience.[3][4] In addition to the main Saturday battle, Oklahoma D-Day incorporated smaller games, night scenarios, equipment demonstrations and social activities. The 2021 programme included scenarios based on Operation Goodwood, the Siege of Bastogne, Brécourt Manor and Operation Albany, alongside pump and magazine-fed paintball games.[6]
