=== Sidekick Semi ===

The '''Sidekick Semi''' was a .68-calibre semi-automatic paintball pistol with a ten-ball feed tube and a 12-gram CO₂ power source. In a contemporary technical review, Bill Mills of ''WARPIG'' reported that Chris "Goob" Nall acquired a pump-action pistol derived from a DSDS scent-marking design after seeing an advertisement in ''[[Action Pursuit Games]]'' in 1998. Nall subsequently worked with the manufacturer on improvements to the pump version and on development of a semi-automatic design. Prototype semi-automatic pistols underwent field testing in September 1999.[2]

The review describes the Sidekick Semi as using a blow-forward bolt, unlike the Nelson-style pump-action design. It also records gas leaks in some test units and feeding difficulties when paintballs softened in hot conditions. At the time of the review, the semi-automatic version was still under development; the exact commercial release date has not been independently established.[2]
